Published: Oct. 28, 2009
While you may be prepared with sweaters and shovels for the approaching winter's icy temperatures and snow, bitter weather conditions also pose dangerous threats to your pets.
Pet U presents a class entitled "Winter Safety for Pets," taught by Kandi Norrell, DVM, on Monday, November 9, 2009. The class will address specific concerns related to winter, including frost bite, medical conditions that are aggravated by cold weather, and other seasonal hazards.
Register for this and other classes in the series online: http://vetmed.illinois.edu/ope/petu/urbanainfo.html. Registration for "Winter Safety for Pets" by October 28 is $8. The cost is $13 after October 28.
Class sessions, taught by University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital faculty or staff, area veterinarians, or experts in the field, will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, October through May, at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital located at 1008 West Hazelwood Drive in Urbana.
Pet U, coordinated by the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and the Companion Animal Resource Education (CARE) Center, offers a series of carefully thought out classes designed to show pet owners relevant ways to maintain and improve their pet's health.
A complete list of classes and schedules can be found online at: http://vetmed.illinois.edu/ope/petu/urbanaschedule.html.
